Fundy, NB

The Fundy Biosphere Reserve is located on the southern New Brunswick coast, on the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy. It covers an area of over 430,000 hectares, stretching from Saint Martins to the Tantramar Marsh near Sackville, and inland, to Moncton. Nearly 80,000 people live in the Fundy Biosphere Reserve.

The reserve offers a unique combination of geological formations, terrestrial and marine ecosystems, cultural heritage, and a distinctive cross section of rural communities and urban areas. Steep cliffs, forested rivers, mist-filled valleys and a fog shrouded coast are deeply incised into the landscape and are further characterized by waterfalls, rapids, and steep rock walls. The area is renowned for its giant flowerpot rocks, for being an annual stopover site for migratory birds and for its spectacular tidal range, which is the highest in the world.
