Biosphere Regions at Work

Learn how Canadian biosphere regions are providing local solutions to global problems.

Canada’s biosphere regions are backed by community development, social impact organizations (also known as non-profit organizations) that embed environmental, economic, cultural, and social priorities into all of their projects and approaches.

At the heart of biosphere regions’ efforts are four key themes: biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, climate action, and fostering reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. This work resonates across multiple scales, impacts both residents and visitors, influences national policies, and contributes to collective global efforts toward a more sustainable future.
