Canada’s Amazing Places

Looking for the best places to visit in a biosphere region? You've found the right spot!

Amazing Places is a sustainable tourism initiative that identifies and promotes significant sites for residents and visitors to explore. It aims to educate people about their surroundings and create connections that inspire a commitment to conservation.

Amazing Places tell a story about biological, cultural, or historical features in publicly accessible locations. Following the do-no-harm model, they are chosen in locations that can handle increased visitation without compromising what makes them amazing.

A little bit of history

The concept of naming Amazing Places began in 2010 with the Fundy Biosphere Region. The project is now thriving in five biosphere regions in New Brunswick, Ontario, and British Columbia.

Amazing Places in New Brunswick

The Fundy Biosphere Region consulted with the public to find the best places in the region, 50 of which were chosen as exceptional. These became our Amazing Places, bringing awareness to the important natural landscapes we aim to conserve.

Amazing Places in Ontario

Amazing Places in British Columbia

Learn about and explore Amazing Places in British Columbia’s Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region.  Amazing Places in the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region are opportunities to educate and inspire visitors about their natural surroundings, and to create a connection that can quickly become powerful and deeply personal. They tell a story about stunning natural spaces in publicly accessible locations.

The Amazing Places project would not be possible without generous support and contributions from our partners.
